For most events, managing access doesn’t have to be complicated. If your event has a single entrance, no VIP or restricted areas, and standard 1-entry tickets, you can use Default Access Control.
This guide will show you how to quickly set up your event so tickets are scanned correctly, entry limits are applied, and your event runs smoothly without the need for custom rules. Following these steps ensures guests enter easily and staff can manage access efficiently.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this guide, you will understand how to:
How the Default Access works
How to Inherit Access
This will help you confidently configure your event so guests can enter smoothly and staff can manage access efficiently.
Default Access
When an event is created, the Default Access Control setup is automatically applied. This setup includes:
1 Control Map
1 Default Area
1 Default Pool
All tickets attached automatically
1 Entry + 1 Exit per ticket
This means no further action is required—the system sets everything up for you. However, it’s important to confirm whether this setup is right for your event.
When Is Default Access Enough?
Everyone enters the same way
No backstage or VIP areas
No special scan rules required
Understanding "Inherit Access"
The Inherit Access button is found in Access Control > Control Maps. It allows you to revert to the Default Access Setup, even if you have previously customized your access control.
What It Does:
Creates a default Control Map, Control Area, and Control Pool
Attaches all existing layer master products to the default Control Pool
Creates Product Access Times for each master product, referencing the Event Start and End Time
🔄 Use it if you previously customized access control but decide that the Default Access setup is sufficient for your event.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Before inheriting access, review your Event Start and End Date/Time, as this information will define Product Access Times.
To check this:
Go to Event Details > Date & Time from the side panel
FAQs
Can I change the default number of entries per ticket later?
Yes! While Default Access provides 1 entry and 1 exit per ticket, you can always customize entry limits.
Can Default Access work for events with multiple entrances?
Default Access is best for single-entrance events. For multiple entrances, VIP areas, or restricted zones, it’s recommended to switch to Custom Access Control.
Does Default Access handle timed entry tickets?
Default Access assumes tickets are valid for the full event time. If you need specific access windows, you will need to configure Product Access Times manually or switch to Custom Access.
What happens if a ticket is scanned twice by mistake?
Default Access only allows 1 entry and 1 exit. A second scan will be blocked. Staff will see a scan error and must verify the guest manually.
